IV: OBSERVATION FOR TEACHER(S)

4.1 Planning for Teaching

     Teacher prepares lesson plan before teaching. Teacher makes learning activities according to the objectives. Teacher makes it creatively to make student interested in the lesson and not bored. Beside lesson plan, teacher also prepares material by using electronic media. The electronic media which are used is power point presentation. Teacher makes the power point before starting teaching. Before starting teaching, teacher gives the lesson plan to every student.

4.2 Preparing lessons and materials

      Before teaching, teacher knows the material or topic that she wants to teach. She understands well about the topic. So we the students have difficulties, she can solve it. Teacher also uses teaching tools that is available in most of class. The tool is like television, but the function is for projector screen. The tool can be connected to teacher’s laptop, and it is touch screen. So when there is mistake, or there is something that teacher and student should discuss, it can be change directly. The tool can also do screen shoot the material. So, student will have the copy of that.

4.3 Teaching in the Class.

     That day was Wednesday, January 16th 2019, the first day I did observation. I got chance to observe my cooperating teacher, Ma’am Sally. The class was started at 7.30 am and ended at 8.30 am. First, they prayed. Then, teacher asked me to introduce myself. Unfortunately, that meeting was the second section of a topic. The topic was about short story. So, teacher just reviewed the topic by asking students to explain the definition of the topic. The student explained the definition or the meaning by standing. After that, the teacher divided them into some groups in which a group consist of 4 students and asked them to do group assignment.

      A group at least consists of 1 secretary, 1 reporter, and 1 representative. The students were asked to analyze a short story entitled Helen. They analyzed the conflict in that short story and theme. They had to finish discussing in 15 minutes. The teacher asked the reporter of each group to come forward reporting their answer in front of their friends. After all came forward, teacher gave correct answer and suggestion. Then, the last was closing. They closed by praying.

 4.4 Measurement and Evaluation

       Teacher gave assignment to be done in the class and sometimes as homework in the first section. Then, for the second section teacher always gave student a quiz to test their understanding about the topic. There are also midterm exam which is done in the middle of term, and term exam which is done in the last of term before going up to the next grade.
