I : GENERAL INFORMATION AND ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATION 

1.1  School Profile 

Ateneo de Naga University Junior High School

The Ateneo de Naga University Junior High School is located in Phelan Drive, km 7 Pacol, Naga City 4400, Philippines. It is originally a Jesuit high school for boys, was founded in 1940 from the invitation of Caceres Bishop Pedro Santos.  Fr. Francis Burns S.J. was the first Rector and Principal. Its first classes were held at the Camarines Sur Catholic Academy (now Naga Parochial School).
     In 1941, classes were stopped because of the war and only resumed in 1946.  In 1947, the school opened the College Department with 87 students.  In 1953, the college became coeducational by accepting the first five women.  In 1979, the Ateneo de Naga was accredited by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools Colleges and Universities or PAASCU.  In 1991, the Ateneo de Naga was placed among the country's 18 Top Universities and Colleges.  In 1999, the Commission on Higher Education conferred the University Status to the Ateneo.  In 2003, the High School moved to its new home in upland Naga City (Pacol) and opened the doors to 185 girls after 63 years of exclusivity. The special program are Entrepreneurship Program in the Curriculum, Expanded English Language & Reading Program using Science Research Associates or SRA cards, Comprehensive Religious Education Curriculum, Sports and Athletics Program, International Student Exchange Program, Student Activity Elective with varied choices of Club Organizations to select from.

Vision statement
The Ateneo de Naga University High School is highly effective in its mission and golas for secondary education in the Bikol region.
The school lives and operates out of Catholic Ignatian values.
Religious or lay, the pedagogues are highly competent and committed to their vocation as companion and guide to students in their formation as men and women for others.
The graduates are prepared for the rigors of higher education and the pursuit of their interests as persons. In the tradition excellent and formation, they are imbued with core and competencies in various form of communication, equipped with scientific and technological skill, a discerning conscience, and a compassionate commitment to transcend self-centeredness. Inspired by Ignatian spirituality, they recognize the reality of the human and divine person of Christ working actively in the lives of others. They are committed to take responsibilities in the local church and wider communities especially in caring for God’s creation.

Mission Statement
The High School of the Ateneo de Naga University forms its students into young men and women for others characterized by competence, conscience, compassionate commitment, and Christ-centeredness, through its holistic educational program.
The educational program is faith-inspired and values-based, integral and adaptive, interactive and collaborative, humanistic and socially responsive. Cura personalis characterizes instruction, stressing self-activity, inquiry, and mastery.

1.3  Student Affair
The school has its activity. Every day 10 minutes after the lesson finished, the student and teacher always do Examen. it is for reminding and contemplating what they have done a whole day since they woke up. There is a leader who will read the prayer, and other will follow.

1.4  Teaching System
     The classes are held four times a week, Monday till Friday. There are seven (7) period a day. Each day consists of an hour teaching duration. There are 4 till 5 lessons a day for teacher and student. The first period is started at 7.30 am, except Monday. There is flag ceremony on Monday. So, the first period is started at 7.40 am. The second period is started at 8.30. There is first break after the second period. The third period is started at 9.50. The forth period is at 10.50. There is second break after the forth period. The fifth period is started at 1.30 pm. The sixth period is at 2.30. And the last period is at 3.30.

1.5  Material and other Learning Sources
There are board and projector in all classrooms. Teachers use board to explain the material, and projectors to show the material and video for supporting lesson.


1.6  Measurement and Evaluation System
     All grades of examination and other graded student performances are transmuted to a range of 100 as the highest grade and 60 as the lowest. The passing grade of 75 is assigned to 60% of the number of test items.
The level of assessment takes the place of Grade Components.

    There are two (2) types of Assessments: Formative and Summative Assessment. Formative Assessments are recorded but not graded, while the Summative Assessment are recorded and graded. Therefore, the grade component in each level of statement are all summative in nature.

     The school year is divided into three (3) grading periods technically known as TERMS.
The final grading is averaging.
    For the term grades, the numerical system of grading is used and grades are expressed in multiples of one.

II : PEDAGOGICAL CONTENTS

2.1  Teaching Method
     The teacher asks some questions to the student to motivate them. Then the teacher explains the topic they want to lean that day. After that, the teacher explains the objectives of the lesson that day. The teacher gives the teaching plan to all students. The teacher shows a power point presentation about the topic. The teacher explains about the topic. Sometimes the student involved in delivering topic, such as asking them to read the definition of the topic. After that, the teacher asked all students to do formative assignment, such as making a sentence. Then, dividing them into some groups. After that, asking a representation of each group to do the assignment in front of the class. The last, teacher gives summative assignment in quiz form in the following day.

2.2  Learning Materials and Innovation
    All classrooms have blackboard and projector. The teacher usually use blackboard to explain the material clearly. And projector is usually used to show power point presentation of the topic, and a video. The teacher provides and gives worksheet to every students after explaining the topic.

2.3  Source of Learning and Technology
     Students can use library for looking for the lesson. Library provides many books to be borrowed by students. Students can use computer to search the location of the book. There is also computer room that can be used to search information relate to the topic of lesson.

2.4  Authentic Assessment
    There are some authentic assessments that can be assessed. Firstly, the teacher gives formative assignment for student after the teacher explains the material. Second, there is always quiz in the second meeting to measure student’s knowledge. Then, in the middle of term, they do midterm examination. Lastly, there is also term examination in the last of term to test students about the material.

2.5  Other (Habbit)
     Both student and teacher always pray before the lesson started. They do it for every lesson. There is a student who becomes the leader. They stand when they pray. Students do not sit back, if the teacher has not asked them to sit. They sit after the teacher says “You may sit”. A prohibition uses phone in the school. Students so not allow to bring and use phone around the school.



III : TEACHING PLAN


3.1  Curriculum

Ateneo de Naga Junior High School uses K+12 program of Department of Education, in which consists of 12 lessons for every week. It focus on filling three (3) aspects; cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. There are objective of lessons which is made to do those aspects. Lesson plan that is made must follow the curriculum


3.2  Teaching Plan
Teaching plan for English teacher is the teacher has to prepare lesson plan as instructional plan which contains learning competency, session objectives, and learning activities. The lesson plan must appropriate with the curriculum. Teacher tries using technology (projector) as various style of teaching to deliver the topic.
